Here it is again – the time when we show you the Lacey Days of Summer Challenge Entries. this time, we wanted to put your creativity to the test as we asked you to work with TWO laces in the same garment. You did not disappoint. Here are some combinations of lace to inspire you!
The new Ingrid pattern with the front hook and eye closure option was the perfect bra for me to make for my 84 year-old Mother. I used beige and bluebird blue duoplex with “Megan” lace in beige. I added some flowers from a tiny scrap of lace I have had for years and couldn’t part with because surely I would be able to use it for something…Mom is delighted and that’s all that matters.
This month I used 2 different laces to make my very first bra. I used the Ruby pattern (fabric only version) and a lot of help from Beverly’s Craftsy class, Sewing Bras: Construction and Fit. I started with white cup lining, powernet, and elastics. I dyed them in the same dye bath that was supposed to be a light taupe color, but everything came out as pale pinks. I then grabbed my two laces and some pink habotai silk and went to work on the cups. It came together far easier than I’d imagined and I’m thrilled at how pretty it turned out.
You asked for two laces this month! This is a trial Ruby bra, fabric only version, using green and ivory laces, and a faux lacing in green ribbon. I altered the upper cup as per the alteration I make to the Classic and removed some fabric from the top edge of the back band.
