Nickel Plated Garter Strap Adjusters
Customers use our Nickel Plated Garter Strap Adjusters to make professional quality, ¾” wide garters for corsets, waist cinchers, merriwidows, and garter belts. The strap adjusters are used to make adjustable length garter straps. Unlike using a traditional bra strap slider, these adjusters feature small teeth that secure into the elastic, keeping it firmly in place. Simply flip the adjuster up, adjust to the desired strap length, and press in place. So easy! If making garments for clients, your customers will appreciate the easy adjust-ability.
The Nickel Plated Garter Strap Adjusters are also simple to apply to your elastic. Simply slide the edge of your elastic into the slot under the teeth. Press the teeth down onto the elastic with a set of pliers, and that’s it! Professional corset-makers making several garter sets at a time, have told us how much faster they can attach these adjusters to the elastic than the sew-on variety.
Available in sets of 4 (enough for 1 set of 4 garters) and bulk bags of 100.
How to Use:
The Garter Straps Adjusters are ¾” (18 mm) wide and designed to use with ¾” (18 mm) Nickel Garter Clips. Most of our customers use our ¾” (18 mm) Satin Strap Elastic to make the garters, as this elastic is nice and firm and comfortable against the skin. This elastic also features a beautiful shine and is available in an amazing range of colours. However, we have also seen garters made with our Velvet Strap Elastic and our Satin Strip Elastic. These elastics also make strong and beautiful garters!
To make your garter straps detachable, simply sew a G-Hook to the end of the strap, while attaching a loop to the inside of the garment. Our ¾” (18 mm) Heavy Duty Metal G-Hooks in Nickel match nicely.
To make a garter strap, hold the adjuster flat, with the long set of teeth facing up (the ones along the bar, see the photo in the gallery). Then, with your piece of elastic turned wrong side up, slide the end of the elastic underneath the teeth. Make sure that the end of the elastic is cut straight and that it is slid as far forward as possible. Holding the elastic and adjuster in place, press the teeth down with a pair of pliers. Make sure to press hard, pressing all of the teeth down in place. The teeth will embed themselves into the plush underside of the elastic, keeping everything firmly in place.
Then, simply slide your garter clip onto the elastic and feed the raw end of the elastic through the slot in the adjuster. Now you have a professional adjustable garter strap!
