Working in collaboration with Nancy’s Notions (the largest online retailer of sewing notions in the world!) – Beverly Johnson has brought the world of bralette making to your fingertips. The Sew Simple Bralettes book has complete step-by-step instructions plus the pattern! No need to buy a pattern separately – this one is printed right in the back of the book. You’ll find lots of variations in the book and each has its own unique look. She works from the easiest all-fabric bralette to a show-stopping sheer and lace version. There are also variations that add designer details, such as ruffled straps, and angle wing backs.
What’s in the Sew Simple Bralettes Book?
The book begins by teaching you to measure properly. The bralette pattern is available in 30 sizes, using a unique bra fitting system designed by the author. Simply take your cross cup measurement (the measurement from your breast on one side to the other) and find the cup size on the chart. Then combine that cup with your rib cage measurement (directly under your breasts) to find your unique pattern size. It’s Sew Simple! The cross cup sizes include from 6.5″ (16.25 cm) to 9″ (22.5 cm). if you fall outside the range of sizes, our Sweet Sixteen Bralette pattern has a wider range of cup sizes. It’s virtually the same pattern as in the Sew Simple Bralettes Book!
Once you’ve cut out your fabric, or lace, or fabric and foam lining, it’s time to sew. If you have never worked with elastics or stretch fabrics before, don’t worry – Beverly teaches you how! You can even mirror your laces like they do in expensive ready-to-wear. There are 6 different views plus variations and added details you can add to virtually any bralette. Learn to sew cut & sew foam for comfortable bralettes that provide modesty at the same time, or how to apply lace appliques over sheer fabric for a dramatic look.
All of the instructions are full-colour photographs of the actual project in process.
