Swim Further! Advanced Swimwear Styles 3-day Class

Swim Further!  Advanced Swimwear Styles Class

If you already know how to make swimwear but would like to master advanced swimwear styles and construction techniques, the Advanced Swimwear Styles Class is for you. You will learn to make bikinis, monokinis, unikinis, and posing suits for fitness competitions (body builders).

You will learn to change the style of your swimsuit pattern, draft and add ruching, and the Brazilian scrunch. Learn to make bindings from fabric and install elastic into strapping like a pro. This is NOT for a beginner sewist, but for someone with intermediate to advanced sewing skills. Students need to know how to sew swimwear before taking this class, as basic swimwear construction will not be taught in this class. (We suggest you consider Swim Week to teach you the basics of swimwear). All materials, elastics, fabrics, foam cups, etc. are available for purchase separately.

Machines available for rent for students who do not wish to bring their own machine. Machine rental is $50 for the 5 days.

$400.00 CAD

Please note:

• Class begins at 10 am and ends at 4:00 pm. Doors open at 9:30 am.

Lesson Plan

Day One

You can literally learn what swimsuit styles you want this week in Swim Farther Class. Since you already know how to make swimwear, you can build on that skill set. Imagine the boost of confidence it will give knowing that what you sew will translate into what you imagined! Today you can pick the styles you would like use in your swimsuit. We will work through each suit style to make yours exactly how you imagined.

Call (905) 538 – 1396 to reserve your spot.

Day Two

One of the techniques you will learn this week is ruching. Use it to add texture and interest to any area of the suit. You will also learn about applying binding or banding to the edges. Do you want to know how to use a cover stitch machine to apply binding? We’ll teach you how!

Do you want to learn how to make a bikini? What about a tanga? Neither is any problem. You can sew whatever suit your heart desires with help from your Fairy Bra Mother (she’s not just about bras, you know!) You will also make samples of some techniques she doesn’t want you to forget, like enclosed straps and the fits-everyone bikini back.

All of these techniques will be explained and demonstrated.

Call (905) 538 – 1396 to reserve your spot.

Day Three

Today’s the last day of the Swim Farther! Advanced Swimwear Styles Class, and by now, you should be very comfortable making swimwear. We want to have our Digital Fashion Show where we take photos of all your lovely work and show it to the world. This week, you have learned so many new techniques, your mind will be racing with possibilities. While you will miss the new friends you’ve made, you’ll be keen to go home and try everything out!
