Drafting and Marking
Even if you are not drafting your own patterns, some of these basic Drafting and Marking tools are essential for your sewing room. There are useful tools for tracing the pattern or for marking notches or match points on the fabric.
Clover Water Erasable Marker – ideal for marking darts or notches directly on fabric, then wash out the blue lines with water.
Clover Erasable Marker – the pink marking fluid removes magically with the eraser fluid in the end of the pen. It will also erase with a damp cloth.
Chaco-liner Chalk Dispenser– Drawing around patterns and marking internal lines such as darts and placement points is easy and accurate.
Chalk Pen set – Chalk pens are very handy for marking grommet holes in the back of a corset or bustier. The slim chalk fits in the hole to mark it precisely. Chalk is also good to mark notches on bra cups, or to trace bra parts on dark fabric when other markers cannot be seen.
Chalk Refills – This box of refills for your chalk pen includes 8 white and 8 coloured chalk inserts. These last a long time!
Measuring Gauge – Check small measurements with this handy gauge. You know how important an accurate seam allowance is! This measuring tool includes 14 measurements.
The Sewing Edge – Keep your seam allowances accurate with the Sewing Edge! Position the self-adhesive PVC strip on any machine bed and it stays until you move it. Want perfect 1/4″ seam allowances? Now you can. Use on your sewing machine, serger or cover hem!
Drafting Paper – Trace and draft patterns with ease with our 18″ wide paper that lets you see clearly what is underneath. The hefty roll contains 225 feet of paper – enough to last for a long time.
French Curves – These French curves are the best for drafting bras and lingerie. Not only are the curves small, allowing them to be used in small areas, but they all have a feature that makes them ideal for knit apparel drafting – the edges have a line to make a 1/4″ (6 mm) seam allowance. The curves are just right for the curves we find in a bra pattern.
See-Through Ruler – A thin, flexible see-through ruler for use in all sewing projects. Fully marked with inches on both edges, and lines drawn at every eighth-inch and bold lines at each inch.
Flexible T-square – A very flexible ruler calibrated on one edge in inches, the other in centimetres, is a very valuable drafting aid.
Flexible Curve – Duplicating a curve is easy with a flexi-curve. The lead core is easy to shape over the cross cup, or around the crotch area.
