Beginner Bra – Classic Pattern Class

Learn to sew Beverly’s Classic Bra! You will learn all the skills needed to sew up your own full coverage
Classic bra. The day will begin with brief introductions as each student is taken individually in the back
for measuring, underwire sizing and sample fitting. This will give a great idea of what pattern size to
start with and any potential fit alterations. *Come in loose fitted clothing that are easy to take on and
off, as well as your best fitting bra *No foam cup bras please!

After all the measuring you will be guided in pattern layout, fabric cutting and step by step sewing of
your Classic bra.

After the first mock-up bra is finished there will be another try on and discussion on fit and any
alterations needed to continue towards your perfect fitting bra! While the main focus of the class is
sewing techniques for lingerie, we do our best to achieve the best fit for you in the 2-day class. Please be
aware you may need to make a few more bras to get your perfect fit.

Students are provided the following

 Paper Pattern – Classic Bra
 First Mock-up Kit
 Second Kit – student’s choice of any trio! (Can upgrade to Premium kit for a fee)
 2 sets of underwires

Students are responsible for bringing the following (*Most items available for purchase in-store)
 Sewing machine in good working order (capable of straight and zig zag stitching)
 Schmetz Stretch sewing machine needle 75/11
 Pins (Silk glass head recommended)
 Stitch Ripper
 Rotary Cutter (28mm) or Fabric Shears
 Small cutting mat (required for rotary cutting, recommended for fabric shears)
 Ruler
 Drafting curve/ French Curve (Optional)
 Pencil/Pen
 Fabric Marking Tools (washable/erasable recommended)
 Pattern Tracing Paper
 Thread (Gutermann is recommended)

This course is not a beginner sewing course, participants are expected to be familiar with their sewing
machine and basic sewing construction methods. Your sewing machine must be capable of straight and
zig zag stitches. Classes will be from 9:00AM-3:00PM, in store at Bra-Makers – Burlington, with a
30minute lunch break. (Doors will open approx. 8:50am – Please be advised our store is also located on
the second floor with no elevator)
