In June, we take pride in a group that is often overlooked. That’s people with “other” sexual orientations, including the gay, lesbian and bi-sexual community.  (Honestly, I don’t care who anyone sleeps with, as long as they can sew!) But it also includes those who are transitioning from one gender to another. So this month’s challenge is a simple one – show awareness and support by making an intimate apparel garment (bras, bralettes, swimwear, corsets or panties) in the rainbow colours of Pride. Easy, peasy!

There are 6 colours in the Pride flag: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple. Three primary colours and three Secondary Colours. The challenge is to use the rainbow of all six colours in your garment this month.

Take Pride guidelines

  • The theme must be obvious in the garment. In this case, the theme is Take Pride, so it’s got to include the Pride rainbow of 6 colours.
  • You can use or modify any Pin-up Girls patterns or draft your own.
  • The garment must have been completed during 2018.
  • There will be a special prize for those who enter the challenge every month!

I do hope you consider entering the challenge. Submit your digital photo entries any time before June 30.  Send us your photos to our email [email protected]. If the suit is complex, submit photos of the more important details.  Entries will be shown on social media (so if you are shy, don’t model it!)  and the winner will be chosen by a random draw after all entries are in. That means everyone who enters will have a chance to win. If you enter 3 garments, you have 3 chances to win! Remember, the garment does not have to be on a model. You can even show off your entries to all your friends and family on Facebook or Instagram. Please include the hashtag #bramakerschallenge2018 so we can see too! All entries will be posted on this blog and in our social media.

Have fun and Take Pride!

Your Fairy Bra Mother,

Are there any kits put together with all 6 colors in them, or is that something we’d need to do?

As a matter of fact, we DO have a kit with the Pride rainbow. It will be announced in the newsletter on Tuesday! It will be a wonderful rainbow strip fabric and the findings just for Pride Month! Watch for the announcement of Facebook or on the kit section of the website
