Hello again, my Fairy Bra Children – are you ready for February? Get thinking about your next great design for our Ultimate Bra-makers Challenge. This month, we are challenging you to make undergarments using the “Love Yourself” theme. We think the best way to love yourself is to make undergarments that feel luxurious and silky. To us, that means fabulous, silky stretch satin. And what better colour to use in the month of love, than red. So red satin it is! We challenge you in the month of February to make a garment using Red Stretch Satin. It could be a bra, bralette or underwear. I am sure you can think of a million things to make with Red Stretch Satin!
If you’ve never worked with satin before, I have pulled together some information you might want to read before starting your project. There’s a post called the Stretch Satin Primer (information about satin) and the other is How to Work with Stretch Satin (sewing tips). I’ve also made a very special Peek-a-boo bra for this month. I will share that with you later on in the month.

The Challenge guidelines
- The theme must be obvious in the garment. In this case, the theme is Love Yourself, so red stretch satin must be obvious, but you can add other colours or fabrics to the garment.
- The garment must be based on, or modified from a Pin-up Girls pattern. It could also be based on a draft or modification using info from the Bra-makers Manual or from this blog.
- The garment must have been completed during 2018.
- There will be a special prize for those who enter the challenge every month
That’s all there is to it. No complex or rigid rules. Anyone can enter – just submit a photo or two of the completed garment (could be bras or underwear). It does not have to be shown on a model. If the garment is complex, submit photos of the more important details. We’d love to share them! Challenge ends February 28, so all photos, along with your contact information must be submitted by then via email to [email protected]. The winner will be chosen by random draw after the end of February and the photographs published on this blog and in our social media.
