November is known as “Movember” here in Canada.  In Movember, thousands of men join the movement to grow a moustache (also called a “mo”) during the month to raise awareness for prostate cancer. Even men who never wear facial hair, let it grow out for this worthy cause. Support your man in Movember by doing your part from the inside out. This month’s challenge is about making men’s underwear.

You can sew men’s underwear for your man, or a young man in your life. Men’s underwear is easy to make and so this challenge can be fun and creative. Use colourful fabrics and combine them. Make them out of fabrics like Bamboo, Active Cotton or Maxine. We know one man in Sweden who happily chooses fun and colourful cotton spandex prints when they are in the fabric stores. Hopefully your man wants something other than these…

We are offering the Mens Underwear Pattern on sale this month for 25% off the regular price to help you get started. You can refer to our blog post, Inside Mens Underwear, for tips on how to sew them up. We will also have a FREE PATTERN for you this month, which will be available on November 11. Watch for it!

The Challenge guidelines

  • The theme must be obvious. In this case, the theme is Support Your Man, so it’s got to be men’s underwear (and he doesn’t have to grow a moustache!)
  • You can use or modify the Mens Underwear pattern, either the Michael or the Lillebror.
  • The garment must have been completed during 2018.

I encourage you to enter this challenge. It’s all about challenging yourself to make something for someone you care about! Submit your entries any time before November 30.  If the garment is complex, submit photos of the more important details.  Entries will be shown on social media (so if he is shy, don’t model it!)  and the winner will be chosen after all entries are in. Remember, the garment does not have to be on a model. You can even show off your entries to all your friends and family on Facebook or Instagram. Please include the hashtag #bramakerschallenge2018 so we can see too! Send us your photos to our email [email protected]. The winner will be chosen after the challenge closes and the photographs of the entries will be published on this blog and in our social media.

What are you waiting for? Support Your Man and start sewing this November!
