When I think of September, I think of school starting up again. But for many mothers, it is also the time when Dance School starts again. So what better way to challenge ourselves in September but with a theme of Dancing Queen? I’m going to make this one easier by including all forms of dance; ballet, belly dance, ballroom dance, latin dance, even Burlesque or pole dancing. As long as it’s a costume for dance, you’re in. The costume must be made in part of a spandex fabric, but other than that it can be any colour, any type, any style. You can add another fabric if you want.

The Challenge guidelines

  • The theme must be obvious. In this case, the theme is Dancing Queen, so it’s got to be something made of spandex (dance or costume wear used in dancing)
  • You can use or modify any pattern of your choice or draft your own. Just tell us which pattern it is. It does not have to be for you.
  • The garment must have been completed during 2018.

I encourage you to enter this challenge. It’s all about challenging yourself! Submit your entries any time before September 30.  If the garment is complex, submit photos of the more important details.  Entries will be shown on social media (so if you are shy, don’t model it!)  and the winner will be chosen after all entries are in. Remember, the garment does not have to be on a model. You can even show off your entries to all your friends and family on Facebook or Instagram. Please include the hashtag #bramakerschallenge2018 so we can see too! Send us your photos to our email [email protected]. Two winners of a $50 gift certificate will be chosen by random draw after the challenge closes. The photographs of all the entries will be published on this blog and in our social media.

So dance on in to your sewing room and start sewing dancewear this September!
